MetLife
I wrote three TVCs for MetLife, with the campaign extending across print and digital. It centered on the Ruiz family — a family living with ongoing health challenges, always backed by MetLife.

We now see a two shot of Rulo and his mom.
Rulo’s mom: I have cooked him flautas every week for
34 years because it’s his favorite dish. But
when I was diagnosed with cancer I had to
stop making them. I had to rest a lot.
Super: Were you prepared?
Rulo’s mom: You are never prepared for news like this,
but my son, Rulo, had us insured, for
years now, with MetLife and they took care
of us.
Super: Add cancer coverage to your life insurance.
Rulo: Yeah, they helped us with money for
medicines, doctor’s appointments, expenses.
We felt taken care of, right mom? And now
everything’s great.
Rulo’s mom: Yes, everything’s great, just like my
flautas.
Super: You can receive financial support in case of
diagnosis.

Rulo’s mom: And what would you have done without
me?
Rulo: I’d have to get my flautas in the restaurant
around the corner.
Rulo’s mom: Yeah right, as if they were even good.
Rulo: I’m just joking mom.

We now see a two shot of Lupe and her brother.
Lupe’s brother: Older siblings always take care of the
young ones.
Lupe: Yeah right, liar. Who took care of you
when you had your gallbladder surgery?
Lupe’s brother: You did, Lupe. But who took care of
you when you had your tonsil surgery?
Who gave you ice-cream every day?
Lupe: Well, you did. How about when you got
your appendix surgery, remember? You
cried and cried and cried.
Lupe’s brother: Enough, Lupe, we get it.
Super: A surgery can take a family by surprise.
Lupe’s brother: Not just the surgery, the days I couldn’t
work too.
Lupe: Yeah, but fortunately, apart from the
support of our family, our MetLife
insurance helped us with money for
recovery and additional expenses.
Lupe’s brother: Additional expenses too.
Lupe: We made it, and now we can keep
supporting each other as if nothing ever
happened.
Super: Add surgery coverage to your life
insurance.
You can receive financial support in case it
happens

Lupe’s brother: Tell them.
Lupe: What?
Lupe’s brother: Who paid for the insurance and
included you in it?
Lupe: You know you did.

We now see a family shot.
Mom: My family is my drive, I would do anything
for them.
Super: Is there anything that scares you?
Dad: I’m not scared by anything. I’m the bravest one
here.
Jorge: You told me that you were scared of eating red
meat, dad.
Dad: Well, yeah, kid, since my heart thing I don’t eat
as much. I have to take better care of myself
now.
Super: And did it scare your wallet?
Dad: It wasn’t as bad, our MetLife insurance helped
me with extra money for doctor’s appointments
and for the days I couldn’t work. I made it and
now everything’s good.
Super: Add serious disease to your life insurance. You
can receive financial support in case of
diagnosis.

Jorge pulls out a spider and scares his sister.
Sister: Hey, Jorge
Mom: Jorge
Jorge: See, I’m the bravest one here.
